§ 01 — About

A Firm Built for
the Work That Matters

Est. 2009

Calloway Mercer was formed when Eleanor Calloway and James Mercer left two of Chicago's largest defense firms to build something different — a plaintiffs' practice that combined big-firm resources with small-firm accountability.

For more than fifteen years, we have limited our practice to a focused set of personal injury and wrongful death matters. This discipline allows us to invest the time, expertise, and resources that each case deserves. We do not maintain a high-volume caseload. We maintain a high-standard one.

Every case at Calloway Mercer is managed by a partner. From the initial investigation through discovery, motion practice, and trial, the attorneys you meet are the attorneys handling your case. Our firm is small by design — because we believe that serious litigation requires direct, uninterrupted attention.

How We Practice

01

Selective Intake

We evaluate every potential case on its merits — liability, damages, and the human story behind the claim. We turn down cases that cannot be pursued with the full weight of the firm.

02

Thorough Preparation

Our cases are built from the ground up. We engage the best experts, conduct exhaustive discovery, and prepare every matter as though it will be tried.

03

Trial Readiness

Insurance companies and defense firms evaluate a plaintiff firm by its willingness to try cases. We have tried cases in state and federal courts across Illinois. That reputation is reflected in every settlement we negotiate.
